Gary's Legacy
A glimps into Gary's life and legacy
Gary Daniel Boittiaux, was born on January 2, 1956, accidently passing away at the young age of 39 on April 29, 1995.

Gary was born to Jenny Morris and John Boittiaux in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.  He was blessed to have several brothers, Rick, Larry, Donald, Jimmy, and sisters, Lori and Ricia.  On November 2, 1974, he married his love, Melba Dorado Bueno. Shortly after, their first daughter, Karen Bueno was born, followed by their son, Eugene Joseph and second daughter Jessica Victoria.

Gary spent the earlier years working for the railway, often travelling to new cities to reside in with his young family, taking up residences in places such as Squamish, BC, Prince George BC, and Port Coquitlam, BC.  Gary was always a family man, and being so far away from his parents, brothers and sisters was very difficult for him.  In 1986, Gary and Melba decided to join the 'Bueno Brothers' family business in order to be closer to the family, and made the final move back to Winnipeg.

Gary took great pride in his various businesses, and was loved by customers and business associates alike.  Anyone that knew Gary, knew that he would take on any challenge that was given to him with a smile.  Gary was a positive man, with a positive outlook, always laughing and offering a smile to those in need.

Not only was Gary a great businessman, but he had a heart of gold.  He took great pride in the fact that he was born and raised in the North End, and wanted to give back to the community.  Gary was also a patriot, who was very proud of his Canadian status.  Combine those two qualities and the Canada Day tradition was born.

What started off as a small backyard party with a couple small firecrackers for the family kids, quickly escalated to a yearly celebration for the young and old alike, where the firecrackers turned to thousands of dollars of fireworks.  The party quickly outgrew the backyard, and moved into the church parking lot down the street, eventually outgrowing that and moving to the school grounds of RB Russell school.  Gary, along with his brother Rick, both got their licenses, and put on a light show that had quickly became known across the city -- competing with the fireworks at The Forks, people from all over the city began looking forward to this yearly tradition.  What started as a small family celebration had grown into a huge party with free hotdogs and drinks for everyone in attendance, a free stage featuring local entertainment (who could forget Uncle Donald's magical escapes?) and the support of many local digniteries.  The all day Canada Day celebration was something everyone looked forward to on a yearly basis. Gary enjoyed giving back to his community, as well as spending time with the family. The laughter and smiles of joy, awe and amazement is what motivated him to put on this fabulous day.

Along with Gary's intelligence, strong sense of logic and sense, compassion, and humor, was a wild adventurous side.  In his spare time, Gary loved doing things like skydiving, paintballing, camping, and anything outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Melba; daughter, Karen Bueno; son, Eugene Joseph; and daughter; Jessica Victoria.  Gary was also a grandfather to his first grandchild, Kaila Victoria.  Gary was not only an wonderful son, husband, father and grandfather, but a respected and much loved uncle, godfather, businessman, and friend as well.  Everyone that knew him, will always miss him.  His light will shine for all eternity.
